Choosing your Ingredieants
Potatoes – Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes work well for this recipe. I like to buy the big jumbo russets potatoes just because they are easier to peel.
Seasoning – My basic go to seasoning include garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. You can customize this to your liking with different seasoning. You could try cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, or chili powder if you like a little spice in you life. How to Make Crispy Skillet Breakfast Potatoes
To make crispy skillet breakfast potatoes, start by washing and cubing your potatoes. To get that crispy exterior and tender, fluffy interior we want to boil the potatoes first. This will make sure they are fully cooked through.
To get the crispy exterior, pre-heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the potatoes and spread out into an even layer. Make sure to use a pan large enough so all the potatoes make contact to the pan. Season the potatoes with the seasonings of your choice.
Let the potatoes cook for a few minutes without stiring them. This will allow them develop a crispy crust on the bottom. Once crispy, flip them over to crisp the other sides. Continue cooking and flipping until they are crispy on all sides.
Once the potatoes are done, you can serve them up hot and crispy along side your favorite breakfast dish.
I like to garnish them with some fresh sliced chives. You can also add your personal favorite toppings like grated cheese, crumbled bacon, or green onions. These also make a great base for quick breakfast bowl.

Crispy Skillet Breakfast Potatoes
Ingredients
- 1 lb Russet Potatoes
- 2 tbsp Avocado Oil
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp Onion Powder
- ¼ tsp Paprika
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Peel and dice the potatoes into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Fill a medium saucepan half full of water and bring to a boil.
- Add potatoes and boil for 4-6 minutes or until the potatoes are just beginning to become fork tender. Be careful to not over cook.
- Drain the potatoes and let cool.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot add the potatoes. Add your seasonings and cook 10-15 minutes, turn and toss the potatoes every few minutes to make sure they are getting crispy on all sides.
- Once they are crispy and golden brown, season with a pinch of salt and serve.
