In Minnesota, we cherish our warm summer days. Whether you are at the lake cabin, gathered around the bonfire in the backyard, or just enjoying time with friends and family on the back deck your favorite cocktail is certainly not far from reach. This cocktail will hit the spot on a warm summer day or anytime you are looking for a refreshing cocktail!
Choosing your Ingredients
Let’s talk whiskey. There are several different types of whiskey, each with its own unique characteristics and flavors. When is comes to making a whiskey lemonade cocktail, you’ll want to choose a whiskey that compliments the bright, citrusy flavors of the lemonade.
I prefer to use Bourbon because of its subtle sweet, smooth flavor profile. Bourbons with fruity notes and a little spice work well. However, ultimately, the best type of whiskey depends on your personal preference.
This recipe calls for using sparkling lemonade giving it a fizzy texture and a refreshing, bubbly taste. If you are lucky enough to live is a state where citrus trees thrive, you can also use your favorite homemade lemonade. Just add a splash of soda water for some extra fizz.
Mixing a Whiskey Lemonade Cocktail
Mixing a whiskey lemonade is super easy. In a rocks glass, pour in your favorite whiskey and sparkling lemonade. Add ice to fill the glass. Squeeze in a little lemon and stir. Garnish with a lemon slice. That’s it, you are ready to enjoy!
This recipe can easily be scaled up to make more servings. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment a little. Try this recipe with a sparkling strawberry lemonade or cherry lemonade.
